Money Banking and Financial Markets

The course will bring in increased familiarity with the workings of the banking sector and financial markets. The course will help better understand the importance of well-functioning financial institutions and financial market on the functioning of the broader economy. Students will be able to appreciate the role of central bank and how monetary policy can influence growth and fluctuations in the economy, and affect the welfare of households and outcomes for the private sector. The course will aid in improving the competence in working with various economic and financial market data for retrieving, analyzing, and interpreting the economic and finance news, reports, and data to provide/understand monetary policy recommendations.
