Faculty Coordinators

Professor Murthy Haradanahalli S N is the Head of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Madras. He has been a faculty at IIT Madras for the last 20 years and has been the Head for the last five years. He got his BTech in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Madras in 1998. He holds a Master’s degree (2000) and a Ph.D. (2004) in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University.

He has about 50 Journal publications and another 70 conference papers on subjects varying from Contact Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, Fracture Mechanics, Composite Material Stress Analysis, Failure Analysis, Mechanical Testing, and more. He is also interested in development of UAVs and structural weight optimization of components. He is currently involved in structural design of ramjet based extended range ballistics and Rockets.

Dr. Sriram Rengarajan is Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He obtained his PhD degree from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore in 2014. Before joining IIT Madras, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia (2015-2016) and Marie Curie Fellow at James Watt School of Engineering, University of Glasgow, UK (2016-2017).

His research area is broadly Experimental Aerodynamics, particularly focusing on high-speed flows, shock boundary layer interactions, boundary layer separation and unsteadiness, hypersonics and flow control.
