Welcome to the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Online Degree & Diploma Programs portal. Please read these Terms of Service ("TOS") and Academic Honor Code prior to registering for an account or using any portion of the portal.

By accessing or registering on the site, you accept and agree to be legally bound by these Agreements, whether or not you are an enrolled student. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not access or use the portal.

1. Rules for Online Conduct

You are responsible for your own use of the IIT Madras portal and for any User Postings you submit, including forum discussions, wiki contributions, notes, code submissions, questions, and multimedia uploads.

You agree not to:

  • Post content that defames, harasses, or threatens others.
  • Post content that discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them.
  • Post content that infringes another's intellectual property, including copyrights or trademarks.
  • Post inappropriate, vulgar, or obscene content in student forums or communications.
  • Upload software viruses or malicious code designed to disrupt system infrastructure.
  • Share login credentials, quiz solutions, or assessment materials in violation of the Honor Code.

2. Academic Honor Code

IIT Madras maintains zero tolerance for plagiarism, cheating, collusion, or academic dishonesty. All enrolled students agree to submit strictly original work for all graded assignments, project milestones, and programming evaluations.

Violations of the Honor Code may result in immediate zero scores, course failure, suspension, or expulsion from the program without refund of tuition fees.

3. User Accounts & Registration

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during application and registration. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

You agree to notify IIT Madras immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

4. Proprietary Rights & Content License

All course videos, lecture slides, assignments, lab manuals, syllabi, and website assets are the exclusive intellectual property of IIT Madras and its faculty instructors.

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access course materials solely for your personal educational study. You may not record, redistribute, publish, broadcast, or commercially exploit any course materials.

5. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The portal and all course content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranty of any kind. While IIT Madras strives for 100% uptime and seamless online delivery, we do not warrant that services will be uninterrupted or error-free.

6. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
